Accelerate Growth: My Affirmation & Today’s Growth

Apr 8, 2025

Let’s start with a question:
How many thoughts do you think you have each day?

Depending on the research you follow, the estimates range from 6,700 to 80,000 thoughts daily. That number may vary, but one thing is certain: a majority of those thoughts are focused on the past, and most of them are negative. In fact, many studies suggest that up to 90% of our daily thoughts are negative and repetitive.

That’s not just trivia—it’s a wake-up call.

If most of your thoughts are negative and rooted in the past, then your brain is on autopilot, circling back to old fears, past regrets, and unhelpful narratives. This isn’t a mindset that leads to transformation—it’s one that keeps us stuck.

So, what can we do about it?

The Power of Affirmation

Here’s the truth: your mind doesn’t just need more information—it needs transformation. And transformation requires intentional, consistent affirmations.

One of my favorite phrases lately is:

“Words create worlds.”

Words have power. They don’t just describe our inner reality—they shape it. They form neural networks in our brain, rewiring how we think, feel, and show up in the world. Even a single word—or the tone in which it’s spoken—can send us down an emotional spiral or lift us into hope.

That’s why the "My Affirmation" section in the Accelerate Growth Journal is essential. It’s not optional. It’s the fuel for your transformation.

When you write affirmations, you are:

  • Countering negativity with intention.
  • Training your brain to focus on possibility.
  • Creating mental pathways that support confidence, courage, and clarity.
  • Choosing to speak from a place of strength and vision rather than shame or regret.

Stretch Your Brain—It’s a Good Sign

Yes, this might feel awkward. You may feel silly, anxious, or unsure the first few times you write a personal affirmation.

GOOD.
That awkwardness? That’s your brain stretching into unfamiliar, healthy territory. That discomfort is confirmation that you’re creating new thought patterns—ones your mind isn’t used to… yet.

Give your brain something to manage that’s based on who you’re becoming, not who you’ve been.

✍🏼 Journal Prompt: What is good about me? What is true about my potential? What do I want to affirm about my growth and future today?

Today’s Growth: Building Mental Fitness

Just like physical fitness requires consistency and measurement, mental fitness thrives when we pause and reflect.

That’s where the "Today’s Growth" section comes in.

This is your opportunity to:

  • Track the small wins.
  • Notice the internal shifts.
  • Celebrate what may otherwise go unseen.

Imagine a runner checking their smartwatch after a long jog. The miles, the pace, the effort—it all matters. Your growth matters too. And unless you take a moment to reflect, you may overlook the progress you’ve actually made.

✍🏼 Journal Prompt: What did I learn about myself today? What emotional or mental progress did I make? What felt different inside me?

Final Note: Looking Back, Moving Forward

When you reach the end of your Accelerate Growth Journal, you’ll have journeyed through about 100 days of discovery. That’s no small feat.

I encourage you to flip back through those pages. Look at your “Today’s Growth” entries. Make a list on the final pages:

  • What have you learned?
  • What stages have you grown through?
  • Where are you stronger, wiser, or more aligned?

You’ll see not just who you’ve become—but how you became them.

You’re Not Just Journaling—You’re Accelerating Growth

Affirmation and reflection are not just nice extras. They’re anchors in your transformation process. They help you rewire your thinking, ground your growth, and stay rooted in forward movement.

So today, take a moment.
💬 Write your affirmation.
🧠 Reflect on your growth.
📈 Chart the distance you’ve come.

You’re not the same person you were 10, 30, or 100 days ago. You’re accelerating growth—one thought, one word, one day at a time.
